TikTok is ready to become the social media giant we've known Facebook to be the last 10-plus years.
Several changes made or changes to be rolled out in the near future by the booming platform has great potential to reset the social media landscape with TikTok at the top.
During a very good 25-minute YouTube live event hosted by Michael Stelzner, Keenya Kelly, a TikTok expert, there was great dialogue and information presented about the latest changes made by TikTok or what's on the horizon for the platform. There were are will be many, but I'll highlight the ones I think will have the biggest impact on social media marketing.

Creator Portal
TikTok has recognized its popularity, but also its complexity. Therefore it has created a section called a "Creator Portal" that has tutorials on the functions and the tools when using TikTok.
One thing you'll have to do is, if you have a personal profile, you'll have to switch to creator profile. It's simple, easy and free. The reason for having a creator profile is it's designed for someone who is working toward having a business on TikTok (I'll get to more on that further down).
First step is to go to your profile and click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner.
Next, go to "manage account".
You'll see options to switch to creator account or business account. (In the case below I already had switched it to creator account). After this step, it'll walk you through the rest of the process step-by-step.
You're all set. Then, back on your setting and privacy menu, scroll down and you'll come across "Creator Portal." Click on it and you'll get the screen on the right.
Having the creator portal also gives you access to your analytics.
To access the analytics, go to the setting and privacy on your profile and scroll slightly down to Creator.
Next click on analytics.
You can also access your analytics by video. Just click on one of your videos and click on the three dots on the lower right.
Click on analytics.
Bingo. You're now looking at your video analytics.
Q/A section
This feature allows viewers to ask questions about your video, especially if you have a video showcasing a product/services on your TikTok feed. It centralizes a question rather than leaving it in the comment section and hope the creator sees it. Essentially it's a moderator tool for the creator. Questions don't have to be in video, but the responses have to and the responses will be done in a video.
One downside right now is it appears the option is for those with 10,000 or more followers.
E-payments
This is where TikTok has a chance to change social media.
When posting a video on TikTok, especially in a live broadcast, creators will have the option to sell products/services on TikTok and don't have to utilize a third-party system such as PayPal to complete the transaction. The idea from TikTok's perspective is to keep users on its platform. The downside does appear to be that TikTok will keep somewhere between 60-70 percent of the profit.
Other tools
TikTok is again recognizing its place in social media. A couple other areas it's either working on or plans to roll out in the near future include small business resources and TikTok and TV collaborations.
What it appears to be for the small business resources is it'll function similarly to Facebook Ad Manager, but also provide templates for businesses who wish to advertise on TikTok. As you imagine, the reason for this, get more businesses and ad revenue onto the platform.
