How to build a digital marketing campaign

A 2019 Pew Research study showed 96 percent of Americans own a cellphone of some kind, whether it's a smartphone or a standard cellphone (yes there are some there that still exist).

Here were some other data points:

The point? It's awfully hard to find someone these days without a cellphone. Therefore, digital and social media marketing is HUGE!

But how do you put a plan together to get in front of potential customers.

Here are some ways to do that:

Identify Your Goals

Identifying the goals of your campaign is a must. Ask yourself: What am I trying to accomplish? What do I want customers to do? Who are my potential customers?

If you can't answer those questions, don't start any marketing campaign.

Unleash Your Creativity

Once the goals are set, with a target audience in mind, time to let your creative juices flow. Find a slogan, find some creative hashtags, create catchy graphics. Another important tidbit with your campaign, such as a tagline, keep it short, simple and sweet. That's easier for people to remember.

Look at these examples:
  • Nike: Just Do It
  • Kentucky Fried Chicken: Finger lickin' good
  • Reese's: We're not sorry
  • McDonald's: I'm Lovin' It

Choose Your Tactics

Depending on your campaign goals, audience, and budget, these will differ from company to company. But the idea or the concept is similar: How do you want customers to find you? When they find you, what do you want them to do?

Simply, be the leader, the tour guide.

And remember to give them a pleasant and positive experience. Even if they don't buy something, a positive experience will stay with them and they'll come back to when they may find it a better time for them to buy. Or, they may refer someone.

According to kwsmdigital.com, "goal-setting marketers are 376% more likely to report success."

One last thing, set reasonable goals.
