Richfield’s Bilicki has strong showing at Daytona

Richfield native Josh Bilicki finished 23rd in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The race was won by Michael Annett – his first career victory. His previous best was a second-place finish at the 2017 race at Road America in Elkhart Lake.

Bilicki, who started the race in 20th place, said on his Twitter that he played it conservative for the first two stages before becoming more aggressive in the second half of the race. Bilicki worked his way to as high as seventh place before he fell out of the draft and lost track position.

Bilicki’s teammates at Ryan Sieg Racing fared well, too. Sieg finished fourth and Jeff Green was seventh.

The series’ next race is Feb. 23 at Atlanta Motorspeedway.
